A. Having picky eaters is normal. Children learn about foods in a variety of ways. They have to smell it, touch it, taste it, see you enjoying it, and then maybe they might try it. Repeated tasting (often called ‘taste exposure’) is important to increase preferences for fruits and vegetables, though the exact number of taste exposures is unclear. It can take anywhere between one to 15 taste exposures to increase liking, depending on the age of the child or the food (for example, it might take more taste exposures with vegetables than with fruit, which is sweet). Don’t find yourself in a food fight. Just offer the same foods you are eating at a meal and pair it with something you know they like.
