Q. I cannot eat fruits, vegetables, dairy, onions or garlic. Where do I find recipes or what else can I eat?
A. I would encourage you to follow up with your doctor or an allergist to find out specifically what fruits and vegetables you cannot eat. Sometimes cooking the fruit or vegetable breaks down or alters the protein that triggers an allergic reaction. Peeling fruit may also help, because most trigger proteins are in the peel. Eliminating all of them completely from your diet may leave your body severely deprived of important nutrients. Dairy products can be easily substituted by using soy or nut based products that are fortified with calcium. Whole-grains and lean meats/proteins (turkey, fish, chicken, and beans) are also important to consume on a daily basis. All of our recipes contain fruits and vegetables. Work with a dietitian in your area to create a meal plan that will meet your nutritional needs.
