What is the requirement for washing fruit to meet the Joint Commission standards?

 

Q. I am an RD in healthcare. My understanding of Joint comm. standards is that only fruits or veggies with “edible skins” must be washed?

 

A. I was unable to find this information on their website. It would be best to contact the Joint Commission for clarification. However, Fightbac.org has some great information on handling fresh produce.
