What are some of the causes of multiple tooth decay suddenly in young adults 20 something?

Tooth decay can occur at any age. It can occur whenever food remains on the teeth after eating. The food that is left on the teeth is eaten by bacteria which produces an acid. This acid combines with food debris, and saliva and forms plaque on your teeth. The plaque contains acids that dissolve the enamel of the teeth which causes holes in the teeth (cavities). An increase in tooth decay over the yeas has been linked to the increased consumption of beverages with added sugars (such as soda). Since many people do not brush their teeth just after consuming a sugary beverage, and this can lead to an increase in the amount of plaque that forms on their teeth that can lead to a cavity. Oral hygiene and food choices are the two most important factors when it comes to preventing tooth decay. For information on tooth decay visit the American Dental Association.
