HELLO I’M TRYING TO FIND THE OXALATE VALUES FOR “KOMATSUNA” OR MUSTARD SPINACH. I’VE FOUND THE VALUE FOR REGULAR SPINACH WHICH IS ALITTLE HIGH AND WAS WONDERING IF MUSTARD SPINACH WHICH IS MUCH HIGHER IN CALCIUM WOULD HAVE LESS OF THE OXALATES IN IT AND WHAT THAT NUMBER WOULD BE BASED OF A CUP OF THE GREENS. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET BUT CANT FIND THAT NUMBER. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME.

Komatsuna, or Japanese Mustard Spinach is popular in and much of the research on it has been done there. We were unable to locate the value for oxalates in Komatsuna, but found studies mentioning that it is high in calcium and lower in oxalates than spinach. Calcium reduces the oxalates absorbed in the body so higher calcium levels (from any source) are associated with lower oxalate absorption.
