  1. A fruit and veggie smoothie that we enjoy is aprox. 4-5 leaves of kale, stems removed, with 2-3 pears, some mint, and about 3/4 to 1 cup of water.
I blend mine in a vitamix. If you don’t have a vitamix, reduce the amount of the ingredients to fit a regular blender.

  2. I love to juice just straight carrots or a carrot/apple combo. I also like to juice cucumbers with beets (although the beets can stain pretty easily if kids spill it). I also like to juice yam with pears or yam with cantalope. Even though some say not to mix fruit and vegetables I find I can juice broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and throw in an apple and that it tastes really good! (And never upsets my stomach.)

  3. Just want to say YAHOO to Claudia and Celeste!! These are terrific suggestions. I hope that many parents will try these out. Also, a VitaMix is an investment worth making. I taught elementary school for 15 years and I truly believe that being more mindful of what our children are eating can make a world of difference in test scores and more importantly, life. If we begin to pay more attention to our lifestyle habits then no children will be left behind!

  4. Try a Cherry Smoothie- 1 oz tart Montmorency Cherry Concentrate, 8 oz water, 1 banana, 1 cup frozen peaches, 1/2 cup frozen Raspberries. Place in blender, add ice & blend.

  5. Its such as you learn my thoughts! You seem to understand so much about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few percent to drive the message house a bit, but instead of that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.
