How do you prepare a jimaca?

A: Jicama is a unique and tasty Mexican fruit, rich in fiber and Vitamin C! A cousin of the sweet potato, it has a crisp texture and a sweet taste. A jicama can be enjoyed just as it is, after removing the skin (just like you’d peel a potato) and cutting it accordingly, or it can be steamed, baked, boiled, microwaved, or fried. Jicama matches nicely with peppers, citrus fruits, and lime. In fact, drizzling slices of jicama with lime juice is a great and enjoyable snack! However, if you’d like to get creative and add jicama into some of your popular home-cooked dishes, adding it to salads (especially black bean salads to spice up a Mexican dish!) and roasted pepper vegetable medleys are great ideas. Try adding jicama to our Corn and Black Bean Salad or our Chinatown Vegetable Medley recipes!

    What produce is safe to eat raw and with skin? I also heard some produce skin has a higher amount of antioxidants if eaten is that true?

    when you talk about fruits & veggies that not everybody is familiar with, you should show a picture of it. grocery stores often don’t label the produce section well & it’s hard to add to your diet, when you don’t know what it is.
