I do have a question– since I have colitius, and diverticulitus also have a narrow place in my colen–I need fiber, which comes from veggies and fruit– But I am wondering how I get fiber when some want me on a low residue diet– are canned or cooked fruits and veggies as good for fiber- as fresh or frozen ? I also have a very easy stomech to irrate with food, so I am not sure what I need to eat in my case– I know you are not my Dr. but, a few tips will certanily help me.ThanksGina

All forms of fruits and vegetables—fresh, frozen, canned, dried, and 100% juice—are equally beneficial to you. Since you have specific recommendations due to your colitis and diverticulitis, you should ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian that can help with your specific dietary needs. You can also visit the American Dietetic Association to find a dietitian in your area.
