Will a diet high in fruits and vegetables cause diabetes?

Q: Can you get diabetes from eating only fruits and vegetables?

A: Fruits and vegetables actually help to prevent type II diabetes.  They also help to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and some cancers.  Because fruits and veggies are low in calories, they help to prevent obesity.  Obesity is a significant risk factor for type II diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

If you have diabetes, it is important to speak with your physician, registered dietitian, or certified diabetes educator to determine how to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet.
