A. Fruits and vegetables provide your body with the nutrients it needs during and after a work out. Many people understand the importance of protein, carbohydrates and fat, but pay little attention to the importance of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), many of which are found in fruits and vegetables. These micronutrients are important for oxygen to be transported by the blood, carbohydrates to be used during exercise, the formation of new muscle cells, the absorption of iron, and even the transmission of nerve impulses that will allow movement.
