good fruit and veggies are great! Out of season products are worth the effort. I live the Midwest. Can you advise when different products are in season?

With the wide varieties of fruits and vegetables available from all over the world, it is possible to find all types of produce year-round. Remember that frozen, canned, dried, and 100% juices are available all year and are terrific choices. Here is a brief listing of produce items’ peak seasons:

Spring: artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, chives, collard greens, fiddlehead ferns, green beans, honeydew melons, mango, morel mushrooms, mustard greens, oranges, pineapple, rhubarb, spinach, spring baby lettuce, sugar snap peas, snow pea, Vidalia onions and watercress.

Summer: apricots, beets, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, casaba melon, cherries, corn, Crenshaw melon, cucumbers, eggplant, figs, grapes, green beans, green peas, honeydew melons, kiwifruit, lima beans, limes, nectarines, okra, oranges (Valencia), peaches, Persian melons, plums, radishes, raspberries, strawberries, summer squash, tomatoes, watermelon, zucchini

Fall: acorn squash, apples, Belgian endive, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, cauliflower, celery root, coconuts, cranberries, garlic, ginger, grapes, mushrooms, parsnips, pears, persimmons, pomegranate, quince, rutabagas, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, turnips

Winter: apples, Belgian endive, chestnuts, coconuts, grapefruit, kale, leeks, mushrooms, oranges (navel), parsnips, pears, persimmons, radicchio, rutabagas, tangerines, turnips

All year: avocados, bananas, cabbage, carrots, celery, grapefruit, lemons, lettuce, onions, papayas, peppers, potatoes (white)
