are the terms “flash pasteurization” and “gently pasteurized” synonymous and if not, what are the differences? (specificaly in reference to fruit juice beverages)

Flash pasteurization is done at a higher temperature for a short period of time, then cooled.  Batch pasteurization is done at slightly lower temperatures for longer periods of time.  "Gently pasteurized" may refer to the latter, although this is not necessarily so.  You might contact the company making a brand of juice that says gently pasteurized to find out what process they use.
