I have a nutrients chart for fruits and veggies. I would like to know how the fat grams are calculated and if it is calculated for cooked or uncooked?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

There are 9 calories per gram of fat.  Therefore, the number of grams of fat are multiplied by 9 to get the amount of calories from fat in the food.  The fat grams in your chart are most like calculated for uncooked fruits and veggies.

I like to have something crunchy and sweet for a snack first thing in the morning. I don’t think the granola bars you buy at the store are all that healthy. Do you know of a healthy receipe for a granola bar to eat first thing in the morning or for a late afternoon snack?

At the store – how is the best way to tell a cantalope is ripe? I’ve been told to shake it and if the seeds can be heard moving or “sloshing” around it’s ripe – that this is more accurate than smelling or testing the blossom end.

The smelling and checking the blossom end is the most reliable. Take a look at this video about cantaloupes for more specifics.

Mila, I don’t fully understand your question, but it sounds like you should consult a doctor about what the normal amount of protein in your urine should be.  Then if the doctor is concerned about your diet,  Read More
