HOME > Community & Social > Ask the Expert > Hi Elizabeth! I do not have a question, but just read your short article in a recent Giant Food publication on buying and eating more fruits and vegetables, and doing so within a practicle budget. I want to commend you for putting out the positive message that eating healthy can be done on a budget, and can many times be cheaper than buying prepared or processed foods. It seems like a lot of the information the media sends the public is \"we all need to eat healthy - but it\'s going to cost you more!\" I work in the fitness industry and am very conscious of nutritional and weight issues; I find the negative message of the \"extra expense\" of healthier foods to be a crock that just discourages people from making changes, in fact. As a wife/mom who has striven (is that a word?) to make heathy meals for my family on a very tight budget, I have learned that cooking from scratch with fresh ingredients is the key to keeping the grocery budget low and just plain feeling better. I found your article refreshing and I appreciate your work in this field Thank you and keep getting the message out.
