how do you keep an avocado from turning brown?

Avocados become brown when exposed to air due to a process called oxidation.  To prevent this, cut the avocado open just before using it. Sprinkling a small amount of lemon or lime juice will help to delay the browning. If you are not able to eat the whole avocado at one time, keep the pit in the center, as this may help with delayed browning.
