I am trying to understand how much fruit and veges to eat a day. I realize we should have 2 serves of fruit and 4-5 of veges. Can you please clarify if eating 1 large carrot is equivalent to 1 or 2 serves. Also, if I have a cereal bowl of a mixed salad would that be equivalent to my daily intake of veges? I eat alot of fruit, but am trying to eat more vegetables instead and trying to figure out if I am getting enough. Thanks for your assistance.

One serving of most fruits and vegetables is ½ cup, so a large carrot would be about 1 cup, or 2 servings. The average cereal bowl of mixed salad is about 1 ½ cups, which counts as ¾ cup of vegetables ( 1 cup of leafy vegetables counts as ½ cup- there is a lot of air between the leaves).
