Is there any significant health benefit to drinking fruit juices? My wife holds they are mainly sugar and water.
When you drink fruit juices that are 100% fruit juice, they provide vitamins, minerals and other healthful substances found in the whole fruit, except fiber, so they are one good way to include fruits in the diet. It should say 100% juice on the label. Fruit juice drinks contain only around 10% fruit juice, and the remainder is usually water and some form of sugar to sweeten. Reading the ingredient label will tell you what else is in the drink if it is not 100% juice.
