Broccoli is a plant that belongs to that cabbage family, Brassicaceae. Broccoli possesses green flower heads that are arranged in a tree-like fashion on branches sprouting from a thick, meaty stalk. In fact, broccoli’s name is derived from the Italian piccolo bracci, meaning “little arms”. Broccoli is a cool-weather crop that is high in vitamins C, K, and A, as well as dietary fiber.
