Are Elderberries safe to eat raw?

Q. Can elderberries be eaten of the bush, or boiled for a few minutes, or boiled for 15 min.

A. Elderberries can be eaten fresh, but are typically cooked with sugar to reduce their tartness. When selecting fresh elderberries look for dark red to purple berry clusters.
