What fruits are low in sugar to help improve my acne?


Q. experience acne breakouts after consuming sugar and handle my diet well except for fruits. Oranges and blueberries seem to be OK, bananas are terrible. Please name several other low sugar popular fruits I can try. Thanks


A. It is very difficult to pinpoint the cause of acne. One medium banana only has 5grams more sugar than a medium orange (14grams). If foods seem to worsen your acne, pay close attention to what you are eating in an entire day and work with a dermatologist. You never want to restrict fruits and vegetables unless you medically need too. The health benefits that come from consuming a variety of produce are too great to not eat them. For sugar levels in common fruits and veggies, visit our nutrition database and use the drop down food label under each individual produce.
