Can Fruits and Veggies Help Reduce Bad Breath?

Q. I have been quiet consicous of my breath and I am going to have a job interview next week . Could you give me some ideas about what to eat and what to avoid eating?

A. Yes! Eating fruits and veggies can help fight bad breath. Consider eating fibrous and/or crunchy types like carrots, celery, and apples.  The action of chewing stimulates saliva and neutralizes bacterial by-products while the fibrous nature removes plaque from the teeth. You may want to avoid garlic and onions prior to an interview because the odorous sulfur compounds linger in the mouth and may be detected while speaking and exhaling.  Good luck!
