Fruit/Veggie Smoothie Recipe?

Does anyone have a yummy recipe for “hiding” veggies in my kids fruits smoothies? I heard flax seed was also good?
thank you

  1. I have found that carrots will not affect the color or taste too much in any smoothie recipe. I can get by with a little broccoli (two or three florets) without noticing too much. Also if you add a tablespoon of splenda to sweeten it masks the taste of any vegetable quite a bit.

I have tried spinach (black smoothie anyone??), green beans…you name it! Just experiment and have fun. Just beware that you might come up with some crazy colors!

  2. I’ve been experimenting with putting both fruit and veggies together in the blender – I use 1 banana, 1 apple (cored but not peeled), 1 pear (cored by not peeled) I happened to add a nectorine today. Add a 6 oz container of yogurt (I’ve used all sort of flavors including plain), I then put in a little unsweetened juice or water. As everything is blending I add 1 stalk of cerery (chooped), 1 few flowerettes of broccoli, a quarter of a cucumber (chopped and skin on – I also don’t seed it), then about 5 or 6 of those little baby carrots (chopped) – I add this slowly through the top of the blender. I then add 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, or strawberries, then I add a small bunch of spinach – blend some more on high and then add 1/8 teaspoon of ground cininimon. Blend on high for about a minute more. This makes two 16 oz glasses. I drink one, and refrigerate the other. I can’t taste the veggies. But don’t put too much broccoli (or you will take it) and go really easy on the cinnimon – it can take over the taste totally. You can get some weird colors, but they are yummy – I’ve been doing this for about a year for breakfast every morning.
