Q. Hello. I’m the program coordinator for my Tops club. I’m always looking for new programs to present. Can you give me a few fun ideas to take to one of my meetings? Also, do any of the web pages offer a print option or do I just cut and pasta?
A. One area that people tend to struggle with when trying to lose weight is eating out. Maybe putting together a presentation on packing healthy lunches, or discussing ways to cut fat and calories from restaurant meals would be good. Perhaps educating on creative ways to increase fruit and vegetable consumption while eating out would be useful (i.e. eggplant lasagna instead of noodles, chili over baked potato, or fresh fruit salsa over meat, etc.). Try offering a smoothie class. Teach everyone how to make a healthy smoothie and how this fits into their daily caloric totals. Possibly refresh on healthy ways to prepare food. Get creative and have fun! Browse our website to see what sparks your interest and what might be helpful to your group.
