hi! i just have a few questions about tomatoes for a project i’m doing at school.-does salt in soil affect the growth of tomato plants? -what tomaotos harvest fruit the fastest? thankyou!

There is salt present in many fertilizers that are used to grow tomato plants.  When planting tomato plants, it is important that the fertilizer is deep underneath the plant, otherwise the salts in the fertilizer will drain moisture from the roots or stem of the plant.  This is harmful to the plant, therefore, fertilizer should always be covered with at least 3 inches of soil.  The plant’s roots will then be able to gradually grow into the fertilizer, and slowly absorb the nutrients from it.  Keeping plants warm by drawing heat to them will help them to harvest their fruit the fastest.
