How to pick a ripe pineapple.

Pineapples available in the grocery have been picked ripe and can be used immediately. Pineapples should be plump and firm with fresh green leaves on the top. Look for a mild pineapple scent at the stem end. Color may not indicate ripeness, since some varieties are green when ripe.
