I am learning to love salad, especially the loose-leaf mixes now available in my grocery store. But I don’t really know how to store it so that it stays fresh without getting all slimy in the plastic bag. What is the best way to store salad greens in the fridge?

Wash the greens well under running water- a colander is helpful. Gently shake off as much water as you can then blot the leaves with paper towels, or dry in a salad spinner if you have one. Wrap the whole batch in a couple of paper towels and store in a zip top bag in your refrigerator. Use within 5-7 days. Click here to find storage information for other fruits and vegetables.
