I am on the Weight Watchers Point Plan, We have to count our *Dietary Fat* on labels, what is the difference between dietary fat and total fat?

Dietary fat is the fat in the foods you eat.  Total fat depends on the context in which it is being discussed.  On the label, total fat is the total amount of fat in a serving of the food item, which is indicated at the top of the label.  On the label, the total fat will be broken down into the different types of fat that are in the food – saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and trans fats.  These comprise the total fat.  Total fat would also refer to the total amount of fat you consume in a day.
