Is eating raw butternut squash safe?

Q: My husband (who just had  a bout with H.Pylori) is still calling Dr on phone about issues and I noticed he is eating Butternut squash but raw…is this ever recommended? Never heard of such a thing.I cant ask him as he refuses to tell me anything about his health. He hasnt seen a Dr since 1966 (ARMY) and had a colon/endoscope in Nov and had 12 large polyps removed and then had the H pylori..  Thank you,.Debi

A: Yes, eating raw butternut squash is safe.  It is sometimes grated, or sliced thinly, into salads or coleslaws.  See our page on Butternut Squash for nutritional information, and benefits.
