is it safe to eat cactus pads (nopales) while pregnant?? I heard they contain a lot of beta carotene.
Nopales, or pads from the prickly pear cactus are enjoyed in many countries of the world. They are an excellent source of vitamin C and magnesium and a good source of fiber. The are not very high in beta carotene. The diet during pregnancy should include a variety of foods without excessive amounts of any one food. As such, nopales could be included as part of your healthy diet.
