Is the sodium in fruits and vegetables the same sodium as in salt and is it as harmful for you as salt itself?

Sodium in salt is the same as the sodium in fruits and vegetables. Most fruits and veggies, however, are usually either sodium-free or low in sodium, making them part of a heart healthy diet. Also potassium-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, have long been recommended as a dietary defense against heart disease and other chronic illnesses. A potassium-rich diet blunts the effects of salt on blood pressure due to sodium and potassium’s interchangeable relationship in the body. For a heart healthy diet make half-your-plate fruits and veggies!
