How long can fruits and vegetables be stored?

Q. I would like to know how long you can store fruits and vegetables before and after preparation since I have to wait up to two weeks before I can buy anymore for food preparation.

A. Each fruit and veggie may be a little different. In general, most fresh produce should be used within 2-10 days of purchase, and then canned, frozen, and dried are great for the rest of the time. For information on storage and preparation, check out our fruit and vegetable database. There is information on the best ways to select and store different produce as well as some helpful videos.
