Sliced Melon Salad with Spicy Lime Dressing

Summer melon is delicious all by itself, but adding new flavors turns it from a simple snack into a salad ideal for entertaining. In this recipe cantaloupe is laced with red onions and drizzled with a sweet and spicy dressing made of lime and hot sauce.

Serves: 6 servings
Cups of Fruits & Vegetables per Serving:

3 cups fresh spinach leaves

½ of a medium cantaloupe, thinly sliced

½ small red onion, thinly sliced

3 tablespoons fresh lime juice*

1-2 teaspoons sriracha-style hot sauce

½ teaspoon sugar


On a serving platter, layer the spinach and the cantaloupe slices. Top with red onion slices.


In a small bowl, stir together the lime juice, hot sauce (depending on your preferred level of heat), and the sugar. Pour the dressing over the salad and serve.
