How many fruits and vegetables do women need?

Q. How many fruits and vegetables do adult women need who are moderately active during the week? Age 46

A. The minimum suggested daily intake of fruits and vegetables for a 31-50 year old sedentary woman (30 minutes or less of activity a day) is 1 ½ cups of fruit and 2 ½ cups of vegetables according to the USDA. However, women that are more active can consume more fruits and veggies still staying within their recommended daily caloric needs. A good rule of thumb is to try to make half-your-plate fruits and vegetables for every meal and snack.
