storage for fresh furits & vegs in cool storage room. In gunny sacks or baskets still?

Some fruits and vegetables such as apples, potatoes and some squashes can be stored for extended periods of time in a cool, dark place. When storing these items, it is best to keep them in a sturdy, ventilated container such as a woven basket. (Plastic containers would trap too much moisture and hasten the spoilage of the fruits and vegetables.) Make sure the containers are not stored directly on the ground and check them often for signs of spoilage such as soft spots or browning.
