What fruit contribution does a 4oz sliced apple bag have?Example: 1/2 apple = 1/2 cup fruit/vegetable

The easiest way to determine your intake of fruits and vegetable is to measure in cups. Half a cup is equal to 4 oz of fruits or vegetables. You are correct that ½ an apple is equal to approximately ½ a cup of fruit. You can use the same rule for many of the round fruits (i.e. grapefruit, pear, orange, etc.) that tend to be the same size as a medium apple. Our How Much Is A Cup chart shows visual examples of what 1 cup of fruits or vegetables looks like. Also try using a measuring cup with each fruit and veggie to determine the exact measurement for a few days. By doing this, over time, you can learn to visually determine approximately how many cups you are eating with out even measuring! If this is too complicated for you, just remember to fill half-your-plate with fruits and vegetables at every meal or snack occasion. With this method you will easily meet your daily recommendations!
