What is a serving size when measuring fruits and vegetables? Is one apple a serving or two, what about an orange or grapefruit. Veggies, how much broccoli is a serving or carrots. Thanks for your help

We define one serving of fruit/vegetables as:

  • One medium piece of fruit (1 medium apple or orange)
  • ½ cup cut-up raw or cooked fruit/vegetable
  • ½ cup cooked dry peas, beans, lentils
  • 1 cup leafy greens
  • ¼ cup dried
  • 4 oz (1/2 cup) of 100% juice

See our How Much Is A Cup chart for a visual representation! If this is too complicated, just remember to fill half-your-plate with fruits and vegetables at every meal or snack occasion. With this method you will easily meet your daily recommendations!
