What nutional value do beets have in them?

One medium beet (~3 ½ ounces) is considered a serving, and that provides 50 calories.  Beets are considered low-fat and saturated fat and cholesterol free.  They are also a good source of folate, a B-vitamin that when adequate in a healthful diet may reduce a woman’s risk of having a child with a brain or spinal cord defect.  See our fruit and veggie database for specific nutritional information about other fruits and vegetables as well!
