What nutrients are in a coconut and how do they effect us?

The primary nutrients in raw coconut meat are fat and some carbohydrate, which both provide energy.  One-half cup of shredded raw coconut meat provides 592 calories, primarily as fat and some carbohydrate.  It is a good source of fiber and has small amounts of other vitamins and minerals.  Considering the number of calories in ½ cup of coconut, other fruits and vegetables would probably be better sources of nutrients.
