What suggestions do you have for improving nutritional intake in autistic children. It is very difficult to ensure that autistic children obtain the proper amount of calories and nutrients due to their issues with various food textures. Any advice in this area?

Feeding special needs children presents many challenges, not the least of which is the food itself. In many cases, there are also swallowing difficulties and occupational therapy issues to consider.  Without knowing the child’s physical conditions or abilities, it is difficult to provide specific answers. I suggest contacting a registered dietitian who specializes in this area and works with a speech pathologist and an occupational therapist.
