Why do the new recommendations for fruits and vegetables include more vegetable servings than fruit servings?

Although fruits are very healthful and are low in calories relative to the amount you can eat, they do contain more calories than most vegetables, with the exception of starchy vegetables. The recommendation is lower for fruits to allow adequate amounts of all foods to meet nutrient requirements and not exceed calorie requirements.
