All fruits and vegetables help to control blood sugar levels. It is specifically the fiber in fruits and vegetables that helps to maintain stable blood sugar levels. It is a common misconception that diabetics can not have fruit, however, this is untrue. While fruit does contain sugar, it is natural sugar that is easily digested by the body. While dried fruits are still a good choice, since they are dehydrated, they tend to be higher in calories and carbohydrates. Therefore, make sure to a variety of colors and forms—fresh, frozen, canned, dried, and 100% juice through out the day to maintain blood sugar levels through out the day.
